The State Duma adopted in the second reading a bill aimed at ensuring the availability of medical care and medicines for children and adults suffering from rare (orphan) diseases.
The initiative was submitted to the State Duma in September. The document establishes that the provision of medicines to citizens suffering from orphan diseases aged 18 years and older is carried out at the expense of federal budget funds allocated to the authorized federal executive authority. If the law is adopted, the new rules will come into force on January 1, 2023.
