In Moscow, a telemedicine service has been introduced into the work of all outpatient cancer care centers, with the help of which oncologists and hematologists of these medical institutions can remotely extend previously written electronic prescriptions.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development A. Rakova, «to do this, the doctor contacts the patient six days before the expiration of the prescription and issues its extension. Previously, in order to extend the prescription, citizens had to come to a doctor's appointment».
«If, following the results of the oncoconsilium, the patient is prescribed drug therapy, specialists will tell where he can get the prescribed medication, give information about the medication schedule and explain the algorithm of the patient's actions in case of possible side effects from taking medications».
To date, doctors have remotely extended the validity of more than 5 thousand prescriptions and notified about 2 thousand patients about the results of oncological consultations.
